Yes! We offer both in-person classes at our Long Island, NY location and live online classes via Zoom. Both formats are fully approved by New York State.

Yes! Upon successful completion of your course, you will receive a same-day certificate that you can use to complete your security guard license application or renewal.
Yes, we maintain digital records and can provide replacement certificates at any time.
You will need to bring a valid photo ID (Driver’s license, passport, or state ID), pen and notebook if you would like to take notes, and for online classes you will require computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection.
Yes! All our courses are approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)
Registration & Payment
We accept cash (in-person appointment only), credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), and debit cards.
No. In compliance with DCJS regulations, we do not charge any non-refundable registration fees, deposits, or cancellation fees.
While we accept walk-ins for our in-person classes when space is available, we strongly recommend pre-registration to guarantee your seat. Payment must be received before the class begins.
Cancellations & Refunds
All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email. You may send a cancellation request directly to info@wisdomtrainingacademy.com, or you may cancel by clicking the “Change/Cancel Appointment” button in your booking confirmation email. If you cancel using the confirmation email button, please send a follow-up email to info@wisdomtrainingacademy.com to confirm your cancellation before your scheduled class begins.
Yes! You are entitled to a 100% refund if you cancel at any time before instruction begins.
Refund eligibility after class starts depends on the course type and how far into the training you are. Please see our detailed Refund Policy or contact us for specific information about your situation.
Refunds are typically processed within 7 to 14 business days from the date we receive your written cancellation request.
Non-attendance or late arrival does not automatically constitute a withdrawal. You must submit a cancellation request to be eligible for any applicable refund.
We understand that emergencies happen. Please contact our School Director as soon as possible with documentation (such as a doctor’s note). We will work with you to find a solution, which may include rescheduling to a future class.
Rescheduling
Yes! You may reschedule to another available date at no additional charge if you provide written notice at least 24 hours before your scheduled class.
Rescheduling credits must be used within one (1) month of your original registration date.
Rescheduling is subject to seat availability. We’ll work with you to find the next available date that fits your schedule.
Course Requirements & Attendance
Yes. You must be present for 100% of the course instruction time to receive your certificate of completion.
Students who arrive late may not be permitted to enter the class, as you must complete the full course hours. You would need to reschedule for another date.
Please bring:
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID)
- Your Social Security number (card not required, just the number)
- Any materials we specified in your registration confirmation email
Yes, most courses (except 8 Hour Annual In-Service course) include a written examination. You must pass the exam to receive your certificate of completion.
Employment & Licensing
While our training prepares you for security guard positions, we are not a job placement agency and cannot guarantee employment. However, many of our graduates successfully find positions in the security field.
No. We provide the required training and issue certificates of completion. You must apply for your actual Security Guard Registration Card through the NYS Department of State Division of Licensing Services. We can provide you with all the information you need.

8-Hour Annual Renewal Training
Once your security guard license expires you cannot work until you complete the training and renew your license.
Yes, you can complete your annual training at any New York State approved security training school. Many students choose us for our flexible online and Long Island in-person options.
You will need to take the 8-Hour Annual Training course to remain eligible for security work and maintain your security guard license in good standing. If you have taken a break from security work, you will need to take an annual training course in order to return back to the field and keep your security guard license active.
8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training
After completing this course, you will receive a certificate that allows you to apply for your NYS Unarmed Security Guard Registration Card. You must submit your fingerprints and pass the background check. You must complete this step before starting work.
Yes, there is a final assessment to ensure that you understand the material. Our instructors prepare you thoroughly so that you can successfully pass the course with ease.
You must be at least 18 years old to take security guard training and work as a security officer in New York state.
You do not need any prior experience! This training is designed for beginners entering the security field. Our instructors explain everything from the basics up.
16-Hour On-the-Job Training
No, the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course is a prerequisite for the 16-hour OJT. You must complete the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training course first.
You can enroll immediately. We also offer bundle deals (8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course + 16-Hour OJT Training Course) that can save you some money!
You must complete the 16-Hour OJT course within 90 days of being hired as a security guard.
